Sunny Cheung

Sunny Cheung is a young politician in exile. His pro-democracy activism began during the Umbrella Movement of 2014. As the former spokesperson of the Hong Kong Higher Institutions International Affairs Delegation (HKIAD), he testified before the UK Parliament and US Congress. He has organized organized multiple large-scale rallies in Hong Kong. Ahead of the 2020 Legislative Council election, he participated, and emerged victorious, in the Hong Kong democratic camp’s primaries, which Beijing later declared a violation of the National Security Law. Having graduated from the University of Hong Kong, he is now pursuing an M.A. at the Johns Hopkins University’s Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies.
